What's New SRQ: Retail and Restaurants and Markets (Oh My!)

In this Summer 2018 edition of What’s New SRQ, we’re exploring the planned expansion of brands – young and old. Whether they tested the waters of business in Sarasota County and are now stretching their legs into Manatee County or have a well-established foothold in Florida and are seeking to serve new communities, we’re excited to see the rapid progress and tenant announcements for projects that have piqued our interest from groundbreaking.

- Matt Drews, Director MSC Commercial

Oak & Stone + Rooftop Bar = Bella Noche

Following the opening of its popular flagship establishment on University Parkway, Oak & Stone is kicking it up a notch – or rather eight stories – and bringing their specialty cocktails, draft beer and wood-fired pizza to the rooftop of the future Spring Hill Suites. The site, currently under construction, sits on the 100 block of Old Main Street in downtown Bradenton and overlooks the Manatee River. Whether you’re with family, friends or a first date, this new location, with its covered bar, cabanas and breath-taking scenery, is sure to please.

SoFresh and So Green

All eyes have been on The Green at Lakewood Ranch development since it was first announced in early 2017. Masters of anticipation, Tavistock Development Co. has confirmed yet another new lineup of extraordinary tenants that range from restaurants to retail to wellness – among them, the Tampa-based, health-focused restaurant chain SoFresh. Additional tenants released by Tavistock include Chipotle Mexican Grill, Verizon, Starbucks, Lavish Nail Salon, Mattresses & More, Main Street Dentistry and Modern Gents, allowing the active community of Lakewood Ranch to have some of their favorite things a little closer to home.

Publix to Anchor the Gateway Commons of Manatee

“You mean they needed to drive down to 301 for a Pub-Sub?!” - Undoubtedly the question on everyone’s minds when the newest Manatee County branch of Publix was announced as an anchor establishment of the Gateway Commons of Manatee development in North Palmetto off Moccasin Wallow Road. Receiving project approval from the Manatee County Government in January 2017, Publix is developer Primerica Group One of Tampa’s first confirmed tenant for the 83,000 square-foot shopping center within the 33.12-acre project. According to a press release from Primerica, the Gateway Commons will be a “commercial catalyst for an underserved and dynamically growing area.”
